PM Encourages People to Buy Local

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Manet urged Cambodians to support local products, especially agricultural products from Cambodian farmers, to ensure supply and market demands.

On November 20, the Prime Minister made a speech for the official launch of the Royal Government's Fifth and Sixth Priority Policy Programs which promote agricultural production and market access and balance agricultural prices through financing programs, the deployment of commune officials and the development of modern agricultural communities.

"Customers are the ones who determine both domestic and international, If it is produced and there is no market for us, it is difficult for Cambodia. I ask our people to support our local agricultural products," he said.

He then urged all stakeholders to work together to develop and promote Cambodia's internal agriculture to compete at the regional and global level.

He emphasized that the Royal Government strives to expand from family farming to modern agriculture and agro-industry to improve the livelihood of farmers and expand their market access.
